Utah singer Maz has been catching the ears of the mainstream press since stepping out with her 2022 song ‘How Does It Feel’. She now unveils a new cover version of the Dinosaur Jr. cut ‘Little Fury Things’.
Completely transforming the song into more of an electro meets dream pop offering, Maz’s rendition is chilled and easing as atmospheric synth lines sit atop bopping drums and a thick, grooving bass line. The guitar riffs throughout the track adds a nice compliment. Maz even adds multi-vocals in parts of the song which is fitting in a great way. A wonderful cover version of a classic track, you can stream ‘Little Fury Things’ below.
Touching on the cover version, Maz wrote:
“Dinosaur Jr. Is one of my all-time favorite bands, so covering a song by them has always been a dream of mine. One of my favorite things about Dinosaur Jr.’s sound is that it is raw, gritty and loud. In the studio, playing around with the song, I realized the depth and emotion of the lyrics and the beautiful melody that was there. I thought it would be interesting to highlight those aspects of the song. A softer, dreamier version.”
