Darwave hero Mareux has announced the release of his sophomore album. Titled Nonstop Romance, the LP is out June 27 on Revolution / Warner Records. To coincide with the news, Mareux has also unveiled his new track ‘Laugh Now Cry Later’.
‘Laugh Now Cry Later’ is a haunting offering that is powered by a sinister repeating guitar line as Mareux’s smokey reverb-dripping vocals all sit on top of somewhat dance-driven 4×4 drum kicks. The single will definitely be a staple in goth clubs around the globe. Below is a stream of ‘Laugh Now Cry Later’.
Regarding the song, Mareux mentioned:
“I started writing this song way back in 2018 and it’s gone through several evolutions since then. At the time, I was coming off of a bad relationship and was feeling bitter. I brought it back recently, not inspired by my own misfortunes, but those of some of my friends. This song is a standout on the album, not because it’s better than the other songs, but because it’s the saddest song on it.”
