Back in 2023 Manchester band Mandy, Indiana released their debut album I’ve Seen a Way. A hybrid of experimental dance, noise rock, and so much more, the record was received with multiple praises across the media landscape. The band group now step with news of their upcoming sophomore LP URGH. Out February 6th, the project will get released via none other than Sacred Bones, in which they have recently signed. Along with the announcement, Mandy, Indiana have also shared their latest single ‘Magazine’.
Ramping up their sound even more, ‘Magazine’ is a unorthodox, in your face dance offering with bustling noise elements that totally steamrolls over anything in its way. While the song motivated by past trauma, the sonics match the nature of the content.
Regarding the single Valentine Caulfield mentioned:
“‘Magazine’ is the expression of the frustration and deep-seated violence I felt while attempting to recover from being raped. Just like most victims of sexual assault, I will never get justice, and just like most perpetrators, my attacker will never be punished. My therapist encouraged me to channel my anger into something productive, so here it is: my primal, screaming call for retribution. It is the only way I will ever get to say to my rapist: you hurt me, so I’m going to hurt you.”
