Pharrell Williams made his debut as Creative Director of Louis Vuitton with their men’s Spring/Summer 2024 runway show. Of course Pharrell being the creative (no pun intended) that he is, wasn’t going to make this an average, run of the mill presentation. What you got was an all-out fashion meets art meets music bonanza.
The show was equipped with an orchestra on down to a gospel choir. There was even a guy driving around in a truck with a palette of Louis trunks. To add the cherry on top of the cake, there was even a performance from Hov himself, Jay-Z along with Pharrell.
The new collection itself pays homage to the LV Damier motif, with everything from denim sets to coats carrying the checked design. Williams combines the brand’s historic elegance with a playful modernism that fosters the perfect bridge. Bright yellow fur coats are paired with tailored suits, whilst sleek double breasted blazers share the spotlight with croc print bomber jackets.
Pharrell has proved that he is more than able to step into the driver’s seat at LV, bringing together cultures and worlds that whilst seemingly miles apart, are closer than we think.
