London-based singer Nissi draws inspiration from legendary Afrobeat king Fela Kuti for the opening of her debut single ‘Pay Attention’. A brilliant taste of pop and soul, the track is a keen piece of social commentary, addressing issues regarding brutality, racism and more. The time couldn’t be better than now to release material that speaks to the current ill state of the world, and Nissi has to be given a firm salute for her courage to drop such an impactful debut.
Touching on the ‘Pay Attention’, Nissi wrote:
“We’re supposed to pay attention to each other. If more of us had the patience to get out of our own way to see where other people are coming from, then maybe just maybe, we’ll be able to understand and empathise with them.”
