San Francisco-based artist Kristine Flaherty aka K.Flay shoots a dose of gritty realism for many in her new song ‘Blood In The Cut’. Taken from her latest EP ‘Crush Me’, the vocalist depicts tales of hardships over a minimal bass line before exploding into raging alt/punk-infused heights. K.Flay’s breezy delivery of uncomfortable topics has made for a truly exciting music, with Flaherty being an act who definitely needs to be on everyone’s radar.
Touching on ‘Blood In The Cut’, K.Flay wrote:
“The song is about the desire to inundate yourself with pain or angst or noise or joy, or really any experience, in order to have ownership of the feeling. Though it emerged from a dark place, the song quickly morphed into a celebratory thing, which was surprising and cool for me. It kind of felt like I was enacting the song as I wrote it.”
