When London band FOURS released their 2015 EP Everything I Never Said, there was something truly promising as their presentation of indie pop was surely a treat. The group now returns with their single ‘Painful to Watch’. Whilst an upbeat offering of indie and pop, the lyrical content deals with a less spirited topic, which is that of a past lover who is simply not a good match.
Regarding the track, lead vocalist Edith stated that the tune deals with, “…constantly contradicting yourself, telling yourself you don’t want someone & that your better without them but never fully being able to tell them to fuck off. I wrote the verses very angry, and then I wrote the chorus as a message, basically reassuring myself that I am actually a functional human and everything’s okay really!”
Have a listen.
