It can be a tricky move for an artist to re-brand themselves after having spent almost ten years of building a name and image with a previous band. In the case of Dee Dee of Dum Dum Girls, what began as her personal music project transformed into an all-female band of black attire draped indie pop rockers whose music spread like wildfire. Fast forward to 2016 and the moniker of Dee Dee is now a done deal, with Kristin Kontrol being the new beginning.

With her new album X-Communicate landing May 27th via Subpop, Kristin Kontrol’s new single ‘Show Me’ is a little more lighthearted than her previous work with Dum Dum Girls. Somewhere between pop and alternative, the song picks up a late 80s to early 90s influence as horn sections blaze throughout the track.
