Kevin Saunderson is undoubtly one of the most important elements to electronic music. This visionary along with Juan Atkins and Derrick May, known as the Belleville Three, created a futuristic spin off of house that would later be known to the world as “Techno”. Saunderson, along with Paris Grey, would then go on to create one of the most influential groups in modern music, Inner City. The group brought the sound of Detroit to a global platform in 1987. Songs such as “Big Fun” and “Good Life” would not only inspire tons of music producers in the electronic scene, but also created a soundtrack for a particular time of clubbing and for the world of dance music in general. In 2001, the group disbanded but this year, the powerhouse group have returned with a new single titled “Future” released on Defected Records. Included with the single is the Kenny Larkin remix. The title indeed accurately represents the group overall as their sound has always been ahead of its time and reflects the blueprint of what much of the music of dance would become. Mixmag Magazine listed Inner City the “Greatest Dance Act of All Time”.
You can buy the new singe “Future” on the Defected website.
