Rock icon Iggy Pop and Chan Marshall aka Cat Power have come together for a cover version of Marianne Faithfull’s 1979 track ‘Working Class Hero’. The tune is taken from the forthcoming LP The Faithful: A Tribute to Marianne Faithfull, out December 8th. The new release features Shirley Manson and Peaches, Bush Tetras, Lydia Lunch, and more.

Whilst Iggy and Cat Power’s version follows the same dark and haunting tone as the original, the vocal styles on this rendition is definitely different than Faithfull’s record. There are points in the song where Cat Power’s voice is even manipulated. Iggy Pop’s deep smokey tone creates a juxtaposition fostering an interesting dynamic throughout the song.
