Cardiff band Himalayas are without a doubt one of the most promising rock & roll outfits of today. With a force that of an erupting volcano, the group released their debut album From Hell to Here last year. Unleashing their single ‘Cave Paintings’ back in August of this year, Himalayas now return with their latest offering ‘What If…?’.
Produced by Pete Hutchings, ‘What If…?’ is a slick rock revving that thunders down the track with electrifying instrumentation, giving vocalist/musician Joe Williams the space to completely fly. Touching on the current state of the times, the messaging is as potent as the sounds itself. Whilst the song has a fiery edge to it, there is a also a lassoing seductiveness that all equals one brilliantly crafted record that has a global appeal. ‘What If…?’ is out now via Nettwerk Music Group.
Touching on the single, Joe Williams of Himalayas said:
“Having recorded ‘What If…?’ with Pete Hutchings in Hereford it was a no brainer that we should get it released as soon as we could. The music we’ve released recently just felt like a step forward for us as a band and ‘What If…?’ feels like another jump ahead of where we’ve been. I love the energy that is inherent in the song. The lyrics and vocal melodies came quickly, and the drums are influenced by The Prodigy and Run The Jewels. Pete really kept that hip hop essence with the drums during the recording process. The whole song fell into place really well and it was a stand out single for us from the beginning!”
