Nottingham outfit Girlband! make their return with a new tune called ‘Heartbreak Town’. It is also the title track to their upcoming EP landing July 30th on Soul Kitchen/EMI North. ‘Heartbreak Town’ also follows their previous single ’21st Century Suffragette’ which dropped back in April of this year.
‘Heartbreak Town’ finds Girlband! hitting the perfect point between their spiky punk swingers and a more pop-centric space. The vocal performance by singer Georgia are capturing, with the overall production of the tune quite large and punchy. A brilliant release from the promising group, you can stream ‘Heartbreak Town’ below.
Touching on the single, Georgia mentioned:
“‘Heartbreak Town’ is written about a town called Mansfield where I grew up. The lyric is very much about always being rooted in the town you grew up in and how your heart always belongs there, even though the town has lost many of the things that were there when I was young and so much sadness I saw there growing up, it will still always be my home town. And it’s very much inspired by family and friends and people of Mansfield that keep the fire alive there.”
