While details are quite vague regarding the new change up at BBC Radio 1, a few legendary deejays will be leaving the station. Such deejays include Gilles Peterson, whose “Worldwide Show” has been aired at the station for the past 13 years. Peterson, considered to be one of the UK’s best taste makers of music including Jazz, Soul, Electronic, Hip-Hop, House and more, is said to be looking into a new radio venture. Another DJ, whose role in the UK music scene is undeniable, Judge Jules, is also leaving BBC Radio 1 after 14 years. Jules stated that he is moving into a different career as an entertainment lawyer, yet will still continue deejaying. If the heartbreaking news wasn’t enough, drum and bass legends Fabio and Grooverider will also step down after over a decade of providing some of the most cutting edge D&B music to fans around the UK and the world. Finally, Kissy Sellout will leave the station after a strong three year run. BBC Radio 1 will feature new shows by Skream and Benga, Toddla T, Charlie Sloth and DJ Friction. Music lovers are still slightly confused about the changes, however there is no question regarding the impact that each radio DJ have made in the music scene and the hearts of fans.
