As a singer and creative, Erykah Badu has always brought a unique sense of style and fashion to the table, so it was not surprising to hear the news by designer Riccardo Tisci that she would be the face of the new Givenchy 2014 Spring/Summer campaign. Shot by Mert and Marcus, the first images were revealed via Givenchy’s Instagram.
In reference to Erykah Badu, Riccardo Tisci told Style.com that “She’s one of the most stylish women I’ve met in my life”. In fact, Tisci had her in mind when creating the new 2014 collection, which are African and Japanese inspired.
Along with Erykah Badu, Givenchy will use models Asia Chow, Maria Borges, and Riley in the 2014 Spring/Summer campaign. This all comes in the midst of the continuing debate over the fashion industry’s current lacking of a diverse range of male and female models. Riccardo Tisci has been at the forefront of using various models of different backgrounds which includes supermodel Joan Smalls.
