Bournemouth band Dumb Lovers are without a doubt one of our top choice pop bands by far. With past songs like ‘Oscar’ and ‘Jessie’ quickly commanding attention with their sleek synth-pop and new wave sexiness, the trio consisting of Meg Rees, Robin Clark and James Gordelier, have released their debut EP For Love or Money. Comprised of three tracks, the record finds the outfit beefing up their sound, adding finer layers of musical sophistication that rings with a majestic swing of giants like Siouxsie and the Banshees, as well as Cocteau Twins whilst clearly branding their own imprint. Blending dashes of post-punk into the mix, their chic musical backdrop is the perfect palette for Rees’ seductive and ear-grabbing vocals. Indeed the EP is an addictive treat and like a potent drug, For Love or Money simply has us craving more from Dumb Lovers.
