Punk duo Dolls are set to release their new EP Pop The Bubble this coming September. Working with producer Jim Sclavunos on the forthcoming record, the pair have dropped a taste of what’s to be expected with their current single ‘Sugar Free’. Addressing the topics of superficiality and shallowness, the song rumbles with a punk meets grunge edge that is raw and fierce yet deliciously grooving with a reeling chorus that balances the more punchy and in your face verses.
Touching on ‘Sugar Free’, Dolls drummer Bel stated:
“It was a spontaneous song that came out of Jade’s improvised guitar riff. When we were writing lyrics I had a sugar free drink and started thinking how people can get so pissed off when they ask for diet coke and get regular. So it represents those kind of first world problems & concerns about how our worst nightmare could be something so shallow that it’s just ridiculous.”
