DJ Marky and Red Bull Music Academy will launch the official Marky & Friends Music Festival on June 7th, 2013. Taking place at Espaço das Américas in Sao Paulo, he him will be joined by the legendary LTJ Bukem, Detroit mainstay Moodymann, turntablist Mixmaster Mike and DJ Patife. The festival marks another monumental accomplishment for the DJ and producer whose career has gone strong for two decades.

Celebrating a landmark 20 years of his career while remaining at the forefront of his field, this year will see DJ Marky launch a festival set to make history and mark a new era for the music scene in Brazil – the DJ Marky & Friends Festival. Bringing together an eclectic international lineup, the event will re-create the magic of the DJ Marky & Friends events around the globe over the last decade.

As you have come to expect from Marky’s nights, whether in Brazil or England, the ‘friends’ invited to the first edition of the festival are some of the most revered names in music, a diverse selection of artists that represent Marky’s multi-faceted musical tastes.

Playing alongside Marky himself will be legendary DJ Mix Master Mike. Over a career that stretches back to the early 90s, his extensive list of achievements includes winning the DMC world championship, forming turntablist crew The Invisibl Skratch Piklz and a long-standing working relationship with trailblazing hip hop group Beastie Boys. As an artist his credentials are self-evident and his DJ sets are nothing short of essential.

Detroit pioneer Moodymann will also be joining the lineup. Another hugely influential figurehead in his field, Moodyman’s roots run deep and his back catalogue is home to innumerable seminal releases throughout his career. He will be performing his inimitable brand of house & techno which fuses influences taken from jazz, soul, disco and funk.

Completing the lineup will be LTJ Bukem, one of drum & bass’s most unique and widely acclaimed artists. Through his work as a DJ, producer and head of the Good Looking and Looking Good record labels, his soulful and jazz-inflected take on the genre has informationed a whole generation of artists and fans alike.

In a career that spans over two decades, DJ Marky has gone from an avid record collector and music enthusiast in his native Brazil to an internationally revered DJ, producer and label owner. From igniting dancefloors across the globe to releasing some of the most seminal drum and bass tracks ever to see wax, he continues to amass an unsurpassable list of achievements, all driven by his dedication, phenomenal technical skills and unique flair. Retaining the same passion for music as the day that it all started, Marky remains at the forefront of not just the drum and bass scene, but the music world at large.
