The DJ International label has relaunched with a fresh, new single from the legendary godfather of house Frankie Knuckles titled ‘Carefree (I Am A Star)’, which is taken from the upcoming Jackmaster 7 record. Musically rich, soulful and uplifting, something that the New York-born producer and DJ has built a solid foundation on, ‘Carefree (I Am A Star)’ also includes two remixes courtesy of Chicago house pillar Chip E. and DJ International boss Rocky Jones.
With a legacy of having laid the soil for the genre of house music, GRAMMY Award-winning producer Frankie Knuckles sadly passed away on March 31st, 2014 due to complications with diabetes. He was 59 years of age. His impact on the world of music is undeniable releasing Number 1 hits such as ‘The Whistle Song’ and ‘Rain Falls’, just to name a short few, as well as providing remixes for Michael Jackson, Lisa Stansfield, Janet Jackson, Pet Shop Boys, Luther Vandross, Patti Labelle and loads more.
