As the leaves fall and the nights get longer, clubland naturally picks up that little bit. The combination of both Ibiza and festival season drawing to a close means that traditional form of hedonism, locking yourself in dark rooms of a weekend with thunderous beats, becomes the focus once again. And Freeze don’t half know how to pull out a cracker to bring all this on.
Their clout in partnering up with record labels continues, with 2013 having already yielded stunning showcases with Cadenza, Kompakt and Bedrock, by an alliance with the dons of soulful house and techno, Berlin’s Innervisions. The imprint has rightly become revered on account of their peerless grasp of the deeper side of dance music, creating a blueprint which catches the four-four groove at its most melancholy and dynamic.
Repping the label will be two of the lynchpins behind it, Dixon and Ame. Alongside Henrik Schwarz they represent the holy trinity of Innervisions, masters of the label’s trademark style and the DJing focal points of the mesmerising groove it represents. They’re mainstays at the best clubs and promotions in the world, be it We Love… Space in Ibiza, the Warehouse Project in the UK, Panoramabar/Berghain in their native Berlin or D-Edge in Brazil, for one reason and one reason alone – they exude quality. Electronic music rarely comes this refined or sophisticated.
Joining them will be the very special guest appearance of Guy Gerber. Another DJ who prizes melody and groove above all else, Guy has had a stunningly successful 2013, memorably crowned by his weekly residency at Pacha as part of the iconic club’s reintegration with its underground roots. He’s no slouch on the production tip either, with his label Supplement Facts continuing to blaze a trail worldwide whilst his own productions ignite the likes of Cocoon, Olmeto and Visionquest.
Freeze’s own resident Jemmy, fresh off his recent release for Bedrock and a summer playing at Creamfields and Cream Ibiza, completes the bill. More guests are scheduled to be announced shortly.
