Norwegian singer Dagny has released Side A of her debut album Strangers / Lovers, with the full LP landing in September. With the concept of the record that of a story, the idea stemmed from the vocalist going through 250 songs that she had written over time, many documenting the ups, downs and in-between of her life spanning a decade.
The production of Strangers / Lovers teeters between sparkling pop, dance and R&B whilst lyrically Dagny touches on the roller coaster ride of relationships and the dynamics that make up the day to day story.
Strangers / Lovers is out on Dagny’s Little Daggers Records imprint, licensed to Universal Music AS / Polydor DE.
Regarding the album, Dagny said:
“There will be times in life when you feel really happy and you desperately want to hang on to that. But then there will be times when you feel down and you worry that you’ll feel that way forever. Of course, neither of those feelings last forever. They come in waves. I am a person that is full of contrasts and if I make a song that is just happy with no tension in it, it doesn’t feel right. But I’ll never make songs that are 100% sad, bitchy or bitter. There’s always a hopefulness to it.”
