Dublin outfit Cable Boy have been making waves with their self-described goth disco sound. With their upcoming debut album Forever dropping April 17th, the group have unleashed their latest single ‘Drought’.
An upbeat yet dark goth meets post-punk handing, the moody track built on these reverb-drenched guitar lines, cloudy synths, and rapid fire drums, with Semilore Olusa’s inviting vocals fostering a brilliant balance. There is an urgency surrounding the musicality of ‘Drought’ that creates a rising of energy, not to mention its instant teleportation to an underground club in a city such as Berlin or London.
Regarding the song, Semilore Olusa stated:
“Drought chronicles the end of a relationship. The dying embers of a passionate flame that once engulfed everything has since fizzled to nothing. Both sides questions how they got here and if there still any love left.
Its born out of frustration and sadness about not being able to fix things.”
