Canadian artist Bria has announced the release of her forthcoming EP Cuntry Covers Vol. 2, the follow-up to 2021’s Cuntry Covers Vol.1. The new EP was recorded with once again with collaborative partner Duncan Hay Jennings during a break as members of Orville Peck’s backing band. Bria takes on covers of songs by legendary country singer Loretta Lynn, Gillian Welch, Paula Cole, Mary Margaret O’Hara, Robert Lester Folsom, and Glenn Campbell. Cuntry Covers Vol. 2 lands February 24th on Sub Pop.
Bria has also shared a video for her new cover version of Paula Cole’s ‘Where Have All The Cowboys Gone?’. Directed by Lunakhods, the vid features clips of Bria and the crew getting ready for a photoshoot as well as the in-between times of them doing random things like painting fingernails and eating.
Touching on Cuntry Covers Vol. 2, Bria said:
“Physical space and environment have greatly informed each iteration of Cuntry Covers. With Vol. 1 we had acres of beautiful farmland in summer to explore. With Vol. 2 we had a small apartment in Toronto during the dark winter months that created a kind of claustrophobic creative energy.”
