Björk “Virus”

Let’s be honest with ourselves for a moment. In this ever advancing technological age where artists have the ability to create music and visuals at their disposal, the question then becomes, why is it that so many artists tend not to tap into the depths of these creative opportunities? Many songs nowadays are mediocre at best and music videos tend to be equally as bland. This is why Icelandic singer Björk has been a saving grace for so many years.

Never one to shy away from radical concepts and ideas musically, her latest offerings to the world will come in the form of her new album “Biophilia”, expected to be released in September 2011. The third single from the album is “Virus”, a beautifully composed minimalistic piece that finds Björk straddling a fine line of love and science. The near child like tune sonically is reminiscent of “Frosty” from her album “Vespertine”. “Virus” will be on iTunes as a single and will also be available as an app that illustrates the performance ranging from cell attacks to DNA partnering. What else would you expect from Björk?
