As an artist who has pretty much not only been a ground breaker musically and visually, Björk has also been on top of the ever changing forms of technology. Rather than using it for narcissistic purposes, the Icelandic creative has embraced the new mediums to get messages across regarding things such as environmental awareness. With that being said, it should be no surprise to anyone that Björk would release a new single with Spanish singer Rosalía addressing the consequences of commercial fish farming and the impact on Iceland’s salmon population.
Now where the tech aspect comes into play is the video that is attached to the single. Using deep fake technology, the Carlota Guerrero-directed visuals feature both singers fighting one another martial arts style. With an all white setting looking like a futuristic dōjō, the two go head to head, even pulling out swords towards the end of the video.
The track is produced by Björk, with additional contributions by Sega Bodega and Noah Goldstein.
