Widely considered one of minimal techno’s founders, original Underground Resistance member Robert Hood has done about as much for the genre as one can. Putting out tracks under a variety of monikers (Monobox, H&M w/ Jeff Mills, The Vision, Inner Sanctum, Mathematic Assassins), Hood blends Detroit and Chicago style acid, house, and industrial sounds that are frankly, going to sound fucking nuts on our system. And Hood’s not your typical DJ – he’s been consistently political his entire career, using his reach to raise awareness of class issues within inner-city communities and the relationship between art and commerce. Dude is awesome, don’t sleep.
So who is bringing us this killer party? Basic NYC, Sleepy & Boo! The duo has been at the forefront of electronic music in NYC for about a decade, and currently holds down a monthly Friday at the renowed club Cielo. In recognition of their ability to genre-jump, dig deep, and present special guests like Mr. Hood, NY Mag has given them the honor of ‘Best Dance Party”.
Rounding out the night we’ll have Gino Santos, Dali, and Artwurk. Get your tickets now, this night is going to be major.
