They say you never want to be the first to do something. However, if you’re second, you’ll probably be more successful. Over the past few years it feels like there has been a motto over at Tom Ford – “We may not have reinvented the wheel, but we’re going to make sure the wheel is the most efficient, durable, and power packed wheel there is”. The brand has taken this idea of elegance with a slight edge and has completely refined it in the best way possible.

The Tom Ford Spring/Summer 27 runway show found the company taking influences from various time periods and merging them together to be the theme of a hedonistic party. The soundtrack to the show even kicked off with a woman breathing as if she was in the middle of a pleasurable moment. Women strutted on the cat walk sporting leather cropped tops, bikini/bra tops, skirts, and trench coats. Men sported pastel suits, as well as a mix between the 50s and 90s styling that involved collar-popped shirts tucked in ankle cropped jeans. Of course the clothing got more and more scantily as the show progressed with models wearing sheer skirts with thongs showing underneath down to bottom bearing one piece swimwear. With that being said, the elegant aspect never left, pushing the clothing more in the upscale sexy category than just tacky and raunchy. The theatrics of the models also added character to the show.

It’s safe to say that Tom Ford has perfected a blueprint that may not have been originally created by the company itself, and the truth is, the brand has become one of the best to do it, and leaders of that which are things sexy, classy, and punchy, all in the same breath.
