Let’s be clear. De La Soul is one of the greatest groups in nmusic…period. With a career that spans 39 years, the consistency of quality output is unmatched. Sadly, Dave aka Trugoy the Dove passed away in 2023. However the legacy of De La continues with a new album titled Cabin in the Sky, which is out November 21st. The LP is a part of Mass Appeal’s Legend Has It series, which has released albums from Slick Rick, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Mobb Deep, and Big L. The first single taken from the upcoming De La Soul record is this new track ‘The Package’ produced by none other than Pete Rock.

Pete Rock delivers soulful production which features these stabby piano riffs and sampled vocals chopped throughout the song. The bouncy drums are pretty low key, allowing for the listener to focus on the lyrics. A feel-good cut, it’s sound amazing to hear Dave and Posdnuos together once again. Check it out.
