With their new album Is It Now about to drop on September 26th, Los Angeles trio Automatic have managed to squeeze out one more single off of the upcoming record. Their latest track is called ‘Black Box’, which follows their previous song ‘Lazy’ which landed last month.

‘Black Box’ finds the band yet again masterfully infusing the sounds of new wave, electronica, and alt-pop for overly addicting sonics that are highly refreshing with futuristic overtones. With a slew of great single releases already fired off, you can rest assure we’re incredibly excited for the album.

Automatic has also shared an official music video to ‘Black Box’. Directed by Niccolò Verrecchia, you can watch it below.

Touching on ‘Black Box’, Automatic’s Izzy Glaudini said:

“The title ‘Black Box’ refers to the black box in a crashed plane. The repetitive synth is supposed to suggest a plane gliding as it crashes/ an alarm distress call. I was listening to the Leonard Cohen album The Future a lot around the time the lyrics were written. It’s a pretty straightforward critique of people that have sold out on a large scale, specifically within creative industries. Thierry Mugler said, “art used to tell money what to do, now money tells art what to do” and the world is a less interesting place because of it.”
