Portsmouth band Dutch Criminal Record has shared their new single ‘Light Up’, which is out now on Alcopop! Records. The track follows their 2021 EP It’s Gonna Be OK.

‘Light Up’ is a charming piece of indie rock bursting with warming guitar riffs, run-on drumming, and bright melodies that are truly enchanting. A perfect summertime track, you can stream the tune down at the bottom.

Touching on the track, Dutch Criminal Record’s Sam Thrussell said:

“‘Light Up’ is a song written in 2018 about missing my brother who was away at Uni at the time, but really it’s for anyone missing someone. Initially it was an acoustic song inspired by ‘Oh Yoko’ from John Lennon’s Imagine album and it was much more folky, having harmonicas instead of keyboard riffs. The final version sounds very different after we worked on it together in band practice, turning it into an indie pop tune with Joe adding a very Johnny Marr-esque solo, which I love.”
