Last month Manchester’s Phoebe Green dropped her uber-nostalgic single ‘Lucky Me’. Whilst the track had a 90s chill-out meets post-punk meets Madonna-esque pop fusion, Green picks up the pace with her latest follow-up song ‘Sweat’.
‘Sweat’ is an upbeat taste of indie with grunge etchings with post-punk sprinkles, all laced with pop vocals. Whilst the instrumentation may have a feel-good vibe, the lyrical content revolves around Phoebe Green’s questioning of why she is constantly numb inside and the ease of ruining herself without wanting help from anyone.
‘Sweat’ is taken from Phoebe Green’s forthcoming debut album Lucky Me landing August 19th via Chess Club Records.
