Kent trio Lady Bird have unveiled their new single ‘Bludsuckers’, the follow-up to their previous track ‘Infants’.
While ‘Infants’ was a sonic racing of rapid fire punk, ‘Bludsuckers’ is a wee bit more mellow with the band delivering a dose of funk peppered grooves over streaking rock guitar lines and swinging drums. The content of the song revolves around those who are affected by energy vampires who continuously take more than they give. The husky delivery of vocalist Don Bird hits directly to the point, adding that extra punch. There is also a sweet change-up in the song which is spacey and lush, creating a brilliant juxtaposition to the main arrangement.
‘Bludsuckers’ is taken from Lady Bird’s forthcoming album WE, out February 25th on Alcopop! Records.
Touching on the single, Lady Bird stated:
“‘Bludsuckers’ is a mild rant which offers guidance to victims who fall prey to emotional drainers. ‘Bludsuckers’ are energy zappers who allow themselves to drain the support of their peers and offer very little in return.”
