The Weeknd has finally released “Echoes of Silence”, the final installment to a mixtape trilogy. The Toronto based singer created a frenzy in 2011 with his first mixtape titled “House of Balloons”. Prior to the immediate release of the second release, “Thursday”, the server on The Weeknd’s website was literally temporarily down due to millions of people trying to download the mixtape. Ironically, “Echoes of Silence”, while still keeping some similar themes to it’s predecessors, musically seems to add more traditional instrumentation than the previous blunted, dubbed out electronica feel that came with earlier releases, which in itself was the magic. However, the track “Initiation” is a complete musical mind trip with the vocals of The Weeknd being constantly pitched from a slow to mid to fast tempo while layered over a dark and almost spooky production. The next wait will be an official album from the artist, who up until recently, was quite mysterious and anonymous. Well those times are now gone and Abel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd is headed deeper into fame and stardom.
