Some would say that The Roots latest LP “…And Then You Shoot Your Cousin” is slightly on the dark side. Well to be fair, it is. However, there is also an underlying beauty and genius within even the bleakest moments of the record. So with that being said, their latest video “Never” featuring Patty Crash and directed by Dano Cerny, is a grim view of Los Angeles with the lead actor running down abandoned streets only to rise in the air from a ray of light shining down from the sky. For the record, the brightly lit ray is temporary. We should also mention the haunting, semi-missing faces on the thugs at the beginning of the video. So back to the topic of darkness…
