Master of the ambient sound Pete Namlook has sadly passed away. The causes are still unknown yet a statement issued by his daughter Fabia to Resident Advisor reads: “It is with much grief that we announce the passing of Peter Kuhlmann, AKA Pete Namlook. We are still shocked and are working on an official announcement that will follow soon to bring clarity to our minds. As word spreads on the internet more and more we just want to make clear that he died peacefully from as yet unspecified causes on 8th November 2012. We will announce more details as and when they surface.”

Born Peter Kuhlmann in Frankfurt, Germany, Pete Namlook began his career playing in the band Romantic Warrior in the 80s yet by the 90s, he had tapped into the sound of techno further releasing some of the most influential electronic and ambient records to date. Kuhlmann’s label Fax +49-69/450464 was founded in 1992, creating a base to release numerous releases including his record “Silence” with Dr. Atmo.

Pete Namlook will be surely missed.
