Rapper Rhymefest cleared to run for Alderman in Chicago’s 20th Ward

Chicago emcee Rhymefest is set to run for Alderman in Chicago’s 20th Ward, which includes Englewood, Back of the Yards and Woodlawn, after clearance of the questioning of his eligibility pertaining to residency requirements. The rapper, born Che Smith, will run against current Alderman Willie Cochran. Grammy Award winning Rhymefest, who also co-wrote “Jesus Walks” by Kanye West, has also launched the Catch People Reading program, which puts a focus on children’s reading abilities in the city of Chicago.
