Liverpool clubnight 303 has caused quite a stir in their city, bringing the likes of Andrew
Weatherall, Dave Clarke, Daniel Avery and Slam to the scouse rave stronghold over the past few years. After selling out Manchester’s Joshua Brooks with techno tyrant Surgeon in September 2015 and following that with Slam in February, they’re now setting up shop a few miles down the M62 on a permanent basis this summer with the launch of sister project 909.
Much like 303 the emphasis is on established artists who have a part to play in all three eras
of dance music, the past, present and future. They’ll be taking over revered Mancunian dance Mecca Hidden for their first instalment, enlisting the talents of mercurial techno stalwarts Pig & Dan for the headline role.
Since meeting via chance on a flight in 1999, Pig & Dan have become renowned for a sound
which encapsulates house and techno at its most refined. The duo have released a slew of melodic and driving cuts over the years on a variety of labels, including Cocoon, Bedrock and Soma, the latter two the outlets for their last two LPs ‘Destination Unknown’ and ‘Decade’.
They’ve only recently provided an excellently received BBC Radio One Essential Mix, whilst were the second ever artists to create an RA podcast in June 2006. The event will be a full day and night affair as well for 12 full hours, and will also feature an appearance from the Lauren Lo Sung, a DJ rapidly on the rise having recently been signed to Carl Cox’s management company Safehouse. Further support comes from local clubnights Process and Zutekh as well as the 303 DJs.
