Top Pick: The Dials ‘That Was The Future’

The Dials have been Brighton's secret weapon for 15 years now. And whilst it's almost hard to believe that the band formed in 2002 rather than maybe 1962, their perfect blend of psychedelic, jazz, garage, surf, pop and more is right up to par with the legends of the past. Releasing their self-titled debut album back in 2007, followed by their 2009 sophomore LP 'The Companions of The Rosy Hours' and finally their third offering 'The End Of The Pier' which landed in 2013, it seemed that the band had packed one hell of a musical ride spanning the six year range. So fast-forward to 2017, and just when you think that The Dials may have run clean out of steam, the lads have done just the opposite and pushed harder and damn near better than ever with their fourth album 'That Was The Future'.

Stream Adam & Elvis’ New Cut ‘She Bites Mosquitoes’

Fostering a sound of breezy surf rock and hazy post-punk is the music of Patrick and Tom Malone with their project Adam & Elvis. With their new album 'Through Snow and Small Talk' dropping Sept 29th via Lost In The Manor, the pair have shared their latest cut 'She Bites Mosquitoes'. An overly addicting offering powered by raw guitars, sharp synth breakdowns and a classic delivery of Brit pop vocals, Adam & Elvis have us instantly hooked. Check it out.

Listen to Earth Girl Helen Brown’s ‘Flower Of Darkness’

If the music of Canadian-born, Georgia-raised singer Earth Girl Helen Brown sounds like a nomadic engulfing of styles, that would probably be due to the fact that she has trekked around the U.S. in a gypsy like manner, not to mention living in a mountaintop of Alaska. What has culminated as an aritst is an interesting mix of psych meets pop meets garage rock with an Americana sensibility that literally sounds like an entity on to itself.

ColoRising Mixes 26: High Waisted

NYC band High Waisted is probably having more fun than you...fact. With a sound that blends surf, pop and garage rock, the foursome is everything that one would dream a rock and roll band to be. Releasing their album 'On Ludlow' in March of this year, the group have astonished fans and critics alike, racking up praises in various publications including NME, Nylon, Vice's Noisey and more. The truth is, whilst there are the visuals which depict a bold wildness, High Waisted are a band that know music, and know it incredibly well. With Jessica Louise Dye delivering masterfully controlling vocals with entertaining and at times edgy content, the band's sound is stylistically lustrous, gripping the attention of the listener from beginning to end. In terms of live shows, the bring energy to the umpteenth degree, which is why they are presently one of the bands that is on everyone's radar.

Batz Interview

Melbourne band Batz are good...intensely good. With a sound that stirs together indie, surf and punk, just to name a few, they are a representation of everything that is utterly great about rock. Consisting of Christina Aubry, Joshua Aubry, Dali Platt, Jim Stirton and Jakob Kagan, the band shared a batch of tunes throughout 2015 including the lively garage/punk cut 'Take It', 'Follow Me' and the lustrous surf rock-fused song 'Sid & Nancy'. Batz returned in 2016 with the late night rocker ‘3 AM Pony’, which can be considered the soundtrack of the dreg. Even though the song may spring visuals of drunken staggering, hedonistic excursions and grimy nocturnal adventures, Batz managed to make the song sound uber sexy and intriguing.
