ColoRising Mixes 33: Bella McKendree

London-based singer Bella McKendree makes music that is touching and heartfelt, delivered from the depths of her soul. Also a pianist, her graceful flair for bringing forth songs that blossom with beauty spearheaded by her angelic voice, has critics throughout the press captured in the palm of her hands.

Joining forces with Grammy Award-winning production extraordinaire Brett Shaw, Bella McKendree is set to release her debut EP ‘Waiting’. Comprised of four songs in total, the emotive record finds the musical heroine baring her truths to the world.

Aside from having recorded amazing music with the Welsh band Yr Ods, Griff Lynch has continued to create cultural bridges, performing songs in his native language, reeling listeners into the utterly magnificent offerings from the beautiful Wales land. Musically gliding between everything ranging from indie to electronica, it would do injustice to try to pin Griff Lynch down to any one specific box. However, his flawless tying between sometimes not so happy themes with contrasting, vibrant rhythms is a part of the listening wonder.

Comprised of singer Ebba Ågren and Michel Gustafsson, the Malmö-based couple made their debut with the beautiful single ‘In Bloom’. The song would set the tone for their ‘Never Was’ EP, released in November of 2016 via Hybris Records. Highly praised among music critics, the 5-song record was an enchanting soundscape of dream pop shining with deep and personal lyrics.

Somewhere in between bursting indie pop and raw, pumping garage punk is where Canada’s Mise en Scene sit, finely sewing all sounds flawlessly together. Hailing from Winnipeg, the group was established by members Stefanie Blondal Johnson and Jodi Dunlop who originally came together through their love of visual arts and of course music itself. The result was gorgeous sound, accessible to the masses yet true to their roots.

Norway-raised, L.A.-based artist Majken definitely knows how to bring a ray of sunshine to any situation with her dreamy style of bursting pop. With her debut album ‘Dancing Mountains’ landing in August of this year, the stunning singer has shared the video for her track ‘Fainted Love’. Shot on Super 8 Film, Majken displays a high level of fun as she treks around the gorgeous California landscape. Eveything about the video and song feels completely perfect for the summer. Wolf Alice have announced the release date of their forthcoming album ‘Visions Of A Life’. Scheduled to land September 29th, the new record follows their critically acclaimed debut album ‘My Love Is Cool’, released back in 2015.
