Anna von Hausswolff’s ‘The Mysterious Vanishing of Electra’ is Haunting and Amazing

Gothenburg-based artist Anna von Hausswolff will release her fourth LP ‘Dead Magic’ on March 2nd via the City Sland imprint. Setting the tone of what’s to come, she has unveiled her new single ‘The Mysterious Vanishing of Electra’. Hitting with post-apocalyptic and haunting sonics, von Hausswolff’s in your face vocal delivery is instantly commanding and chilling in the same breath. ‘The Mysterious Vanishing of Electra’ is quite the treat.

We have simply stopped trying to come up with some intellectual reasoning as to why Sweden continues to rule the pop landscape. With that being said, Gothenburg’s Mira Aasma has shared a new song titled ‘Snow White Wedding’. Take powerful drums with echoing snares combined with multi-back vocals and Aasma’s angelic voice and the result is one epic single that defies the traditional pop record, yet etches enough room to fill the space. ‘Snow White Wedding’ is taken from her upcoming LP in which she also produced and wrote.

Honeymoon Disease Cover Eddie Floyd’s ‘Big Bird’

Swedish band Honeymoon Disease released their album ‘The Transcendence’ back in 2015 which found the band sparking a sound dripping in 70s rock. With a 7″ record entitled ‘Electric Eel’ forthcoming in May, the band have shared the b-side cut which is a cover of the classic Eddie Floyd ‘Big Bird’. Powered by no rills rock & roll pumping with streaking guitar liners, a shaking tambourine and thundering drum hits, Honeymoon Disease surely didn’t disappoint in one shape or fasion with this killer version. Gothenburg artist sir Was will release his debut LP ‘Digging A Tunnel’ on March 10th. Having previously shared the video for his song ‘In The Midst’, one of the tracks taking from the album, sir Was now unveils the Little Dragon remix of the tune. Built around a slinky, bubbling bass line, Hip-Hop drums and skippy shakers, the LD version will definitely have you bouncing.

ShitKid Shakes Things Up with ‘RnR Sally’

If unapologetic, alternative and post-punk is what you’re looking for, Gothenburg’s ShitKid definitely has you covered. The moniker of Åsa Söderqvist, she shared her staggering cut ‘Oh Please Be A Cocky Cool Kid’ a few months back. JUDITHS Interview

A good pop song coming out of Sweden is to be expected. However, a great jazz-pop piece may fly a little under the radar. That may soon change as Gothenburg band JUDITHS have emerged to shed a vibrant light on some of the most gorgeous sounds coming out of the Nordic region.
