ColoRising Mixes 30: Girls In Synthesis

If there is one group here to shake things up in music it’s London’s Girls In Synthesis. With a sound raging with punk fury, the group released their double A-side record ‘The Mound/Disappear’ in early March of this year. The band’s energy hit like the impact of a bullet train at full speed with much of it properly translated at their live shows. After all, it isn’t uncommon to see some of the members jumping into the crowd whilst playing. With the current political climate of the world seeming to spiral into a frenzy, the sound of Girls In Synthesis couldn’t be needed more to cut through the current fluff floating about.

ColoRising Mixes 29: Desperate Journalist

Desperate Journalist represent all of the hearty goodness about the DIY scene of London. Blending the sounds of alternative, post-punk, gothic and more, the foursome comprised of singer Jo Bevan, guitarist Rob Hardy, bassist Simon Drowner and drummer Caz Hellbent, kicked in the door with their 2013 EP ‘Christina’. Following up with the singles ‘Organ’ and 2014’s ‘Happening’, Desperate Journalist brought forth their incredible self-titled debut album in 2015.

ColoRising Mixes 16: Beverley Ely

Soul lives and breathes in the body of Essex singer Beverley Ely. With a voice that has been compared to heavyweights such as Emeli Sande, Ely has a slew of industry mainstays talking about her including super producer Rodney Jerkins. Her vocals can be heard on house records such as DJ Anna’s ‘Secret’, as well as Long & Harris’ ‘Vicious Games’. Ely released her debut EP ‘War’ in 2013 to raving reviews, capturing the feeling of what many considered a core sound of R&B that has been sorely missing. With her sophomore EP entitled ‘Second Chance At A First Impression’ out November 12, Beverley Ely has created a wave with her songs ‘So Dumb’ featuring grime emcee Mercston, ‘Back To The Start’ and the fiery ‘Me First’.
