Mercury Prize winning Young Fathers have unveiled their new single ‘Only God Knows’, taken from the T2 Trainspotting soundtrack. Experimenting with electronica and gospel, the song features Leith Congregational Choir.

With three Young Fathers songs featured on The T2 Trainspotting OST, other acts include Wolf Alice, Blondie, Underworld and more.

Speaking highly of Young Father’s Only God Knows, director Danny Boyle stated:

“Trainspotting, the original book is like a modern Ulysses. It’s unsurpassed I think, and reading it is still like the ‘rush of ocean to the heart’. You’re always looking for the heartbeat of a film. For Trainspotting it was Underworld’s Born Slippy. For T2 It’s Young Fathers. Their songs are my heartbeat for the film. And ‘Only God Knows’ is that rush again. The ocean. The heart.”

The T2 Trainspotting film is out in cinemas January 27th in the UK with and released in the US on the March 17th.
